Global Ambassador Program

Mission of an Ambassador:

To serve as an advocate for international education through outreach, community engagement and education.

 Objectives:

To encourage and support student participation in study abroad programs offered through the Office of Study Abroad & International Experiences.

To promote international education by developing and strengthening collaborative relationships between the Office of Study Abroad & International Experiences and the campus community.

Why Are Global Ambassadors so Important?

You are the voice of experience, having successfully completed a study abroad program.  As a student, you hold a perspective that is different than that of faculty, staff and administrators.  You know about the curiosities that students have prior to travelling abroad.  As a student who has studied abroad, you know of the common questions that students want to ask but sometimes never do.  You may have had similar concerns and your insight can enable other students to embrace studying abroad.  As a student, you are also involved in the UMass Lowell community and can identify ways to expose other students to study abroad.  As a Global Ambassador providing an international perspective, you are a valued, contributing member of the Office of Study Abroad & International Experiences and the UMass Lowell community.

As a Global Ambassador, your role is to share your study abroad experience and international perspective with members of the UMass Lowell community.  Below is an overview of your responsibilities:

  • Assist in the coordination and staffing of pre-departure orientation and re-entry programming for students preparing to, and returning from, study abroad.

 Other:

  • Contribute ideas, feedback, and suggestions from the student perspective to assist the Office of Study Abroad & International Experiences in internationalizing the campus and to assist in developing and implementing programs and services.
